The Master of Science in Archaeology at the University of Southampton provides students with a comprehensive understanding of archaeological methods, research, and the cultural significance of historical artifacts. This one-year, full-time program covers various aspects of archaeology, from excavation techniques to the study of material culture and ancient societies. Students will gain expertise in archaeological theory, fieldwork methods, and laboratory analysis.
Delivered on-campus, the program offers hands-on training in archaeological excavation, lab-based analysis, and fieldwork, providing students with the skills needed to engage in archaeological research and conservation. Graduates of the Master of Science in Archaeology are equipped for careers in archaeology, cultural heritage management, and museum studies. With expertise in archaeological research, excavation techniques, and cultural heritage conservation, graduates can work as archaeologists, heritage managers, museum curators, and conservation specialists. Opportunities exist in archaeological firms, museums, heritage organizations, government agencies, and research institutions, focusing on site excavation, artifact preservation, and cultural heritage management.
This program offers a comprehensive understanding of archaeological theory, methodology, and heritage conservation, providing students with the skills necessary to engage in both fieldwork and research.
