The Master of Science in Archaeology Palaeoanthropology at the University of Southampton offers students the opportunity to study human evolution through the lens of archaeology and palaeoanthropology. This one-year, full-time program focuses on the fossil record, ancient human behavior, and the environmental context of human evolution. Students explore key archaeological sites and fossil discoveries to better understand the origins and development of human societies.
On-campus learning includes fieldwork opportunities, laboratory-based research, and expert-led seminars. Graduates are prepared for careers in academic research, museums, and cultural heritage management, contributing to the study and preservation of human history and evolution.

Graduates of this program can pursue careers in archaeology, palaeoanthropology, museum curation, and research. Common roles include archaeologist, palaeoanthropologist, museum curator, and research associate. Graduates can work in research institutions, archaeological fieldwork projects, museums, cultural heritage organizations, and universities. There are also opportunities in academic research, fossil conservation, and consulting for archaeological surveys, as well as working with governmental agencies and NGOs involved in heritage protection and public education.
