The Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering UOLP with ITU and IUS is an international dual-degree program combining engineering, biology and health sciences. In this program, students learn core engineering and biological foundations: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, programming and modelling. They also study specialized topics like biomaterials, biomechanics, medical devices, bioinformatics, and biomedical data analysis. The aim is to prepare you to design medical technologies, understand biological systems, and develop solutions for healthcare — from diagnostic devices to biotechnological applications. Through labs, projects and cross-disciplinary courses, you build strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary skills.
Studying in English and across two universities gives you a global education: you benefit from both ITU’s technical engineering tradition and IUS’s biomedical science environment. You work with students and instructors from different backgrounds, learn international standards, and get familiar with global research and technology approaches. If you are curious about life sciences, enjoy both biology and engineering, and want a career that mixes technology with health and innovation — this program offers a versatile and future-oriented path.
Semester 1 – Foundations: Mathematics, Basic Natural Sciences & Introduction to Bioengineering
Semester 2 – Core Sciences: Biology, Chemistry & Programming
Semester 3 – Engineering & Biological Systems
Semester 4 – Biomedical Systems & Data Analysis
Semester 5 – Medical Devices, Biomaterials & Biomechanics
Semester 6 – Advanced Bioengineering & Systems Integration
Semester 7 – Applications, Research & Industry Prep
Semester 8 – Graduation & Professional Preparation
Graduates can work as biomedical engineer, medical device designer, bioinformatics/data analyst for health, research and development engineer in biotech, quality control & regulatory affairs specialist in medical industry, clinical engineer, or biotechnology consultant. They can join hospitals, medical device companies, biotechnology firms, research centres, pharmaceuticals, health-tech startups, or regulatory bodies. Because bioengineering combines engineering and biology, graduates are also qualified for postgraduate studies or international research opportunities. The broad training gives flexibility: from device design to data-driven health technology, from biotech to medical research.
Choosing Bioengineering with ITU and IUS gives you the chance to study a programme that blends engineering, biology and health sciences — a unique and modern combination. You learn how technologies and biological knowledge come together to improve human health. The program helps you build analytical thinking, design and research skills, data knowledge and biomedical understanding. Studying in English and dual-campus gives you global exposure and flexibility for international career or further study.
Because healthcare, medical technology and biotechnology are growing fields worldwide, this program offers many future career paths. You can work in medical devices, biotech firms, research labs, hospitals or global health-tech companies. If you are interested in biology, technology and want to help improve health or design medical innovations — this program gives you a strong, future-oriented foundation.
