Bioethics

About

The Bachelor of Science in Bioethics is an interdisciplinary program that explores the ethical, social, and scientific dimensions of medicine, biology, and biotechnology. Over four years, students examine how ethical principles intersect with scientific innovation, healthcare practices, and public policy, gaining a nuanced understanding of contemporary issues such as genetic engineering, medical research, clinical decision-making, and healthcare disparities. The curriculum integrates biology, philosophy, and social science to equip students with the analytical skills needed to evaluate moral dilemmas in both research and clinical contexts.

Students engage in coursework, case studies, and research projects that emphasize critical thinking, ethical reasoning, and problem-solving. Topics such as patient rights, biosecurity, reproductive ethics, and the social implications of biotechnology provide a foundation for understanding the complex challenges at the intersection of science and society. Through interdisciplinary analysis, students develop the ability to navigate controversial issues, communicate ethical arguments effectively, and contribute thoughtfully to discussions about health, medicine, and biotechnology. The program fosters a combination of scientific literacy, ethical awareness, and societal understanding, preparing graduates for professional and academic advancement.
