The Master’s Programme in Biology - NAbis (Nordic Master in Biodiversity and Systematics) is a two-year, full-time on-campus program that focuses on biodiversity, taxonomy, and the evolutionary relationships of organisms. The program is part of a Nordic collaboration and provides advanced training in understanding, documenting, and conserving biological diversity across ecosystems. Students study topics such as systematics, evolutionary biology, ecology, and biodiversity assessment methods, with strong emphasis on fieldwork and specimen-based research.
Graduates develop strong biological research skills, taxonomic expertise, and biodiversity analysis competence, preparing them for careers in environmental agencies, conservation organizations, museums, research institutes, and doctoral studies. Uppsala University offers a highly research-oriented environment with access to extensive biological collections and field-based learning opportunities.

Graduates of the Biology - Nabis - Nordic Master in Biodiversity and Systematics program are well-equipped for careers in biodiversity conservation, environmental research, ecology, and systematic biology. With expertise in species identification, classification, and ecosystem management, alumni can pursue roles as biodiversity researchers, conservation biologists, ecologists, and environmental consultants. The increasing importance of biodiversity conservation in the face of climate change ensures growing demand for experts in this field, particularly in research institutions, NGOs, and governmental agencies.
The Biology - Nabis program offers a unique opportunity to study biodiversity and systematics in the Nordic region, where students will engage with diverse ecosystems and species. The program combines fieldwork with laboratory-based research, providing students with hands-on experience in identifying and studying species. The interdisciplinary nature of the program ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, and ecological research, where they can make meaningful contributions to preserving ecosystems and natural habitats.
