Chemistry

About

The Chemistry programme at Istanbul Technical University is a four-year undergraduate degree taught fully in English. In this programme, you learn how matter and chemicals behave — how atoms, molecules, chemical reactions, and materials work. You study basic sciences such as general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and mathematics, and also advanced topics like analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, materials science and chemical analysis. Through lab work and experiments you practise real research methods and learn to understand chemicals, reactions and their uses in industry or science.

During your studies you also learn how to use modern laboratory tools and methods, analyse data, work in teams, and solve scientific and practical problems. The department supports research and experimental work, so you have the chance to take part in projects, do experiments and build strong practical experience. With this education you are ready for many careers — in chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, environment, materials, research labs — or to continue with master’s degree, both in Turkey and abroad.
