The Master of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience (Research) is a two-year, full-time on-campus program that focuses on understanding the neural mechanisms underlying cognitive functions such as perception, memory, language, and decision-making. The program combines advanced neuroscience techniques with psychological theories to investigate how the brain processes and supports various mental functions. Students will engage in cutting-edge research and gain practical experience using neuroimaging and electrophysiological tools to study the brain.
Graduates will be well-prepared for careers in neuroscientific research, neuropsychology, and academic psychology. Leiden University offers access to advanced neuroscience research facilities, expert faculty, and opportunities for collaboration with leading institutions, ensuring students develop the skills necessary to contribute to the field of cognitive neuroscience.
Semester 1 – Foundations in Cognitive Neuroscience
Semester 2 – Advanced Cognitive Neuroscience
Semester 3 – Applied Cognitive Neuroscience
Semester 4 – Master’s Thesis & Final Project
Graduates of the Cognitive Neuroscience (Research) Master’s program can work in neuroscientific research, behavioral studies, and cognitive assessment. With expertise in brain function, neuroimaging, and cognitive psychology, graduates are prepared for roles as cognitive neuroscientists, clinical researchers, or neuropsychologists. This program offers opportunities in research labs, healthcare organizations, and academic institutions.
The Cognitive Neuroscience (Research) Master’s program provides students with a deep understanding of the brain mechanisms underlying cognition, behavior, and neurological disorders. Students conduct cutting-edge research using neuroimaging techniques and cognitive testing, preparing them for careers in neuroscience and psychology research.
