

The Master of Science in Earth Sciences – Global Environmental Change and Policy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) is a two-year, full-time on-campus program that focuses on understanding the complex relationships between environmental change, human societies, and policy-making. The program covers key areas such as climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and the social and economic impacts of these global challenges. Students explore how science informs policy decisions, and how policies can mitigate or adapt to environmental changes, with a particular emphasis on sustainable development and global cooperation.
Graduates are well-prepared for careers in environmental consultancy, governmental agencies, international organizations, and NGOs working on climate change, sustainability, and environmental policy. With a strong emphasis on global environmental change, policy analysis, and sustainability, the program equips students with the skills and knowledge to develop and implement effective solutions for environmental challenges facing the world today.
