English Translation and Interpreting

About

The Bachelor of Arts in English Translation and Interpreting at Ege University is a full-time undergraduate program committed to educating skilled translators and interpreters, with strong competence in both English and Turkish (and additional language training). The program integrates theoretical knowledge of translation studies and linguistics with practical training in written and oral translation, interpretation, and intercultural communication. It includes translation labs and gives students practical experience to handle real-world translation and interpreting tasks. The full degree spans four years (eight semesters).

Located in İzmir’s Bornova campus under the Faculty of Letters, this English-medium (and bilingual) program welcomes students who enter via the relevant language quota and meet the English proficiency requirements. Through a combination of mandatory and elective courses, lab work, and possibly a second foreign language, students graduate with strong translation, interpreting, linguistic, and intercultural skills — ready for careers in translation, interpretation, publishing, media, or further academic study.
