The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design at the University of Southampton focuses on developing students’ creativity and technical skills in fashion design. This three-year, full-time program covers areas such as garment construction, textile design, fashion illustration, and fashion technology, alongside an understanding of the fashion industry and its trends.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Fashion Design will have the skills to pursue a wide variety of careers in the fashion industry, including fashion designer, garment technologist, textile designer, fashion stylist, or fashion illustrator. The programme prepares students for roles in fashion houses, independent design studios, textile companies, or fashion retail, as well as positions in fashion media and consulting. Graduates may also pursue careers in fashion marketing, brand management, or fashion journalism. The skills developed during the programme, including design innovation, technical garment construction, and creative problem-solving, make graduates highly competitive in the dynamic fashion industry. Students may also choose to further their education with postgraduate study in fashion business, textile design, or fashion management.
This programme offers a holistic approach to fashion design, combining creative exploration with technical expertise. Students will develop a strong understanding of fashion design principles, fabric manipulation, and garment construction, while also gaining insight into the fashion industry, market trends, and sustainable practices.
