The Master of Arts in Fashion Design at the University of Southampton combines creativity with technical skill in the fast-paced world of fashion. This one-year, full-time program offers students the opportunity to develop their design skills and understand the commercial and cultural aspects of the fashion industry. The program includes hands-on design projects, workshops, and industry collaboration.
Graduates are prepared to pursue careers as fashion designers, brand managers, and trend analysts, contributing to innovative design and fashion development.
Semester 1 – Foundations of Fashion Design
Semester 2 – Advanced Fashion Design and Innovation
Graduates of this program can pursue careers in fashion design, merchandising, and fashion marketing. Common roles include fashion designer, textile designer, fashion stylist, and fashion entrepreneur. Graduates can work for fashion houses, retail brands, or launch their own fashion labels. There are also opportunities in fashion journalism, trend forecasting, and marketing, as well as roles in sustainable fashion and product development.
This program offers a deep dive into the creative and technical aspects of fashion design, blending design innovation, garment construction, and sustainability. Students gain hands-on experience, developing their skills in designing and creating a personal collection that showcases their individual style and technical abilities.
