Geological Sciences program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of Earth's structure, processes, and natural history. Over four years, students study mineralogy, petrology, sedimentology, structural geology, paleontology, and environmental geology, gaining the knowledge and skills necessary to analyze geological formations and interpret Earth's dynamic systems. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with laboratory work, field studies, and applied research projects, allowing students to explore the formation of rocks, minerals, and landscapes while developing expertise in mapping, data collection, and scientific analysis. Students also examine the interactions between geological systems and human activity, preparing them to address challenges related to natural resources, hazards, and environmental management.
Students participate in field excursions, laboratory analyses, mapping exercises, and independent research projects, gaining hands-on experience in observing, sampling, and interpreting geological phenomena. The program emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, and applied problem-solving, preparing graduates for careers in resource exploration, environmental consulting, education, and scientific research. Graduates leave the program with the ability to conduct field studies, analyze geological data, and contribute meaningfully to understanding and managing Earth's resources and environments.
Year 1 – Foundations in Geological Sciences
Year 2 – Intermediate Geological Studies
Year 3 – Advanced Geological Analysis
Year 4 – Capstone Projects and Professional Preparation
Graduates are prepared for careers in environmental consulting, mining, petroleum and natural resource industries, geological research, education, and government agencies. They may work in resource management firms, research laboratories, environmental consultancies, or governmental geological surveys, applying their skills to assess geological formations, manage resources, and evaluate environmental impacts. The program equips students with analytical abilities, technical expertise, research skills, and fieldwork experience, enabling them to design and conduct geological studies, interpret data, and contribute to sustainable management of Earth's resources. By combining theoretical knowledge with applied practice, graduates are ready to make meaningful contributions to the fields of geology, environmental science, and resource management.
This program offers a comprehensive and applied approach to understanding Earth's systems, integrating classroom study, fieldwork, and research experiences. Its curriculum fosters analytical thinking, practical skills, and professional competence while students engage in laboratory experiments, mapping exercises, research projects, and internships. Guided by experienced faculty and supported by access to geological labs and field resources, students develop expertise in data analysis, process interpretation, and sustainable resource management. Graduates leave the program with strong applied skills, research proficiency, and professional readiness, fully prepared for careers in geology, environmental consulting, education, and natural resource exploration.
