The Master of Science in Geomatics at ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology is a two-year, full-time on-campus program that focuses on the collection, analysis, and interpretation of spatial and geographic data. The program integrates principles from engineering, geospatial science, and data analytics to study the Earth’s surface and its dynamic systems. Students work with advanced technologies such as satellite systems, remote sensing, and geographic information systems (GIS), gaining both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise.
Graduates are well-prepared for geospatial careers in aerospace, navigation, environmental monitoring, and mapping industries, as well as for research and doctoral studies. With a strong emphasis on spatial data analysis and geoinformation systems, the program equips students with the technical skills needed to solve complex challenges in Earth observation and spatial engineering.
Semester 1 – Foundations in Geomatics
Semester 2 – Advanced Geomatics
Semester 3 – Specialization in Geomatics
Semester 4 – Master’s Thesis & Research Project
Graduates of the Geomatics Master’s program are highly sought after in geospatial data analysis, land surveying, cartography, and urban planning. They can work as geospatial analysts, land surveyors, GIS specialists, and urban planners. The increasing demand for geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial data in sectors such as construction, environmental management, and urban development ensures strong career prospects for graduates in public and private sector organizations.
The Geomatics program provides students with the knowledge and skills to collect, analyze, and interpret geospatial data using advanced technologies. Students gain expertise in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and land surveying, preparing them for careers in urban planning, environmental conservation, and land management. The program emphasizes both theoretical concepts and practical skills, ensuring graduates are ready to work with cutting-edge technology to address spatial challenges in various industries.
