The German and Polish Language Studies program at University College London (UCL) is a four-year, full-time course that allows students to become proficient in both German and Polish while exploring the rich cultural, literary, and historical traditions of these two languages. The program offers an in-depth understanding of the societies and histories of Germany and Poland, preparing students for diverse international roles.
UCL’s program combines intensive language training with cultural studies, preparing graduates for careers in translation, international relations, publishing, and cultural diplomacy.
The first two years focus on developing language skills in both German and Polish, covering grammar, syntax, and vocabulary. In addition, students study the literature, history, and culture of Germany and Poland. The final two years allow students to specialize in areas such as linguistics, literature, and cultural studies, with the option to study abroad to immerse in either German- or Polish-speaking regions.
Graduates can pursue careers in translation, international business, publishing, journalism, education, and cultural exchange. The program also offers strong foundations for further studies in academia, research, and diplomatic services, particularly related to German and Polish-speaking countries.
UCL’s German and Polish Language Studies program offers a unique blend of two influential European languages. The program benefits from UCL’s academic excellence, expert faculty, and global network, providing students with opportunities for both academic and professional success in international settings.
