The German and Portuguese program at the University of Bristol is a four-year Bachelor of Arts (BA) that combines the study of German and Portuguese languages with an exploration of their respective literatures, histories, and cultures. Students will study a range of literary works from both German and Portuguese-speaking regions, developing proficiency in both languages while also gaining insight into the social, political, and historical contexts that shape the cultures of these countries.
The University of Bristol offers immersive language courses and the opportunity to study abroad in Germany, Austria, or Portugal, providing students with firsthand experience of the languages and cultures they are studying. Graduates will be well-prepared for careers in translation, international relations, publishing, or cultural exchange, where bilingual skills in German and Portuguese, alongside cultural expertise, are highly valued.
