Global Epidemiology

About

Emory University’s Master of Public Health in Global Epidemiology is a two-year, full-time program that trains students to examine disease patterns and health determinants across international populations through a combination of advanced epidemiologic methods and a global health lens. This interdisciplinary program is uniquely positioned to address both the technical rigor of epidemiologic research and the contextual understanding of global health systems, political environments, and resource-limited settings. Students learn how to design, analyze, and interpret population-based studies with the goal of informing public health decisions and interventions that improve health outcomes globally.

Delivered through the collaboration between Emory’s Department of Epidemiology and the Hubert Department of Global Health, the program combines classroom-based statistical training with field-based learning and research experiences in diverse international settings. Students gain strong quantitative skills alongside applied knowledge of how social determinants, policy structures, and cultural dynamics affect disease transmission and health equity worldwide. With close ties to global organizations and a commitment to health justice, Emory offers an immersive education that equips graduates with the skills and insights needed to lead data-driven solutions to complex global health challenges.
