The Master of Science in Global Sociology, Challenges, Interventions, and Action at the University of Southampton offers students the opportunity to explore the global challenges facing societies today. This one-year, full-time program focuses on understanding social issues such as inequality, poverty, migration, and climate change, and the interventions needed to address them. Students examine global social problems from a sociological perspective, with an emphasis on practical solutions and policy development.
The on-campus program provides opportunities to engage with experts in social theory, policy analysis, and international development. Graduates are well-equipped for careers in social policy, international development, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and governmental agencies, where they can work to implement social interventions that address pressing global challenges.

Graduates of this program can pursue careers in social research, international development, policy analysis, and advocacy. Common roles include social researcher, policy advisor, international development consultant, and advocacy manager. Graduates can work in international organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), think tanks, and research institutions, addressing global challenges such as inequality, climate change, and human rights. Opportunities also exist in public health, urban planning, and social policy development, where graduates can contribute to creating solutions for global social issues.
This program provides a comprehensive understanding of global sociology, with a focus on challenges, interventions, and action in addressing pressing global issues. Students will gain insights into global inequalities, social movements, and policy interventions, equipping them to develop solutions to complex social problems.
