The Hungarian and Norwegian Language Studies program at University College London (UCL) is a four-year, full-time course that offers students the opportunity to become fluent in both Hungarian and Norwegian, while exploring the cultural, historical, and literary contexts of these two distinct languages. The program combines rigorous language training with in-depth studies in the societies and histories of Hungary and Norway.
UCL’s program provides a unique academic experience that equips students with both language proficiency and cultural knowledge, preparing them for careers in translation, international relations, cultural heritage, and research.
The first two years focus on developing language skills in both Hungarian and Norwegian, covering grammar, vocabulary, and syntax. Students will also study the culture, literature, and history of Hungary and Norway. In the final two years, students can specialize in areas such as linguistics, literature, and cultural studies, with the option to study abroad in Hungary or Norway to enhance language immersion.
Graduates can pursue careers in translation, international relations, publishing, education, and cultural exchange. The program also offers a solid foundation for roles in academia, research, and cultural diplomacy, particularly in Central and Northern Europe.
