The Hungarian and Spanish Language Studies program at University College London (UCL) is a four-year, full-time course that offers students the opportunity to become proficient in both Hungarian and Spanish, while exploring the cultural, historical, and literary traditions of these two diverse languages. The program provides a deep understanding of the societies where these languages are spoken, from Hungary to Spain and Latin America.
UCL’s program combines rigorous language training with cultural studies, preparing graduates for careers in translation, international relations, publishing, and cultural diplomacy.
The first two years focus on intensive language acquisition in both Hungarian and Spanish, with courses covering grammar, vocabulary, and language structure. Alongside language training, students study the history, literature, and culture of Hungary and Spain. The final two years offer specialization in areas such as linguistics, literary analysis, and cultural studies, with opportunities for study abroad in either Hungarian- or Spanish-speaking regions.
Graduates can pursue careers in translation, international business, publishing, education, and cultural exchange. The program also offers strong foundations for roles in academia, journalism, and diplomatic services, particularly related to Hungary, Spain, or Latin America.
UCL’s Hungarian and Spanish Language Studies program offers an interdisciplinary and immersive experience, combining language proficiency with cultural understanding. The program benefits from UCL’s academic excellence, expert faculty, and access to a global network, providing students with valuable opportunities in international careers.
