The Master of Arts in Multilingualism at the University of Konstanz is an internationally oriented program that explores how people acquire, process, and use multiple languages. It combines linguistic theory with empirical research, integrating perspectives from psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, and sociolinguistics. Students gain a deep understanding of multilingual language development, language contact, and language change while acquiring advanced skills in research design, statistical analysis, and experimental methods. The curriculum is structured over four semesters, offering a balance of academic study and hands-on research experience.
Situated at one of Germany’s leading research universities, the program provides access to state-of-the-art linguistic laboratories, including eye-tracking and ERP facilities. Students can take part in an international double-degree track with the Université Bordeaux Montaigne (France) or spend a semester abroad or in an internship. With its interdisciplinary approach and global focus, the program prepares graduates for careers in research, education, and applied linguistics, while fostering a deeper understanding of multilingualism in a globalized world.
