The Master’s Programme in Paleobiology - Pangea is a two-year, full-time on-campus program that focuses on the study of ancient life and Earth’s evolutionary history through fossil records and geological evidence. The program explores the development of life on Earth in the context of changing continents, environments, and climates, with particular attention to the supercontinent Pangea and its biological history. Students study topics such as fossil analysis, evolutionary biology, paleoecology, and Earth system evolution.
Graduates develop strong paleontological research skills, evolutionary analysis expertise, and geoscientific competence, preparing them for careers in research institutions, museums, environmental and geological organizations, and doctoral studies. Uppsala University provides a strong research environment with access to extensive fossil collections and advanced earth science facilities

Graduates of the Paleobiology - Pangea Master’s program are well-equipped for careers in paleontology, environmental science, museum curation, and academic research. With expertise in ancient life forms and ecosystems, alumni can work as paleobiologists, museum curators, research scientists, and environmental consultants. The growing interest in understanding Earth’s history and evolutionary processes provides numerous opportunities for graduates in both academia and applied fields like environmental consulting and natural history.
The Paleobiology - Pangea program offers students the opportunity to study the history of life on Earth through the lens of paleobiology, with a particular focus on ancient ecosystems. Students will engage in fieldwork, lab-based research, and fossil analysis, providing them with hands-on experience in the study of ancient organisms and their environments. The program prepares graduates for careers in research, museum curation, and environmental science, where they can contribute to our understanding of Earth’s past and its implications for the future.
