Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies

About

The Bachelor of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies offers a richly interdisciplinary and immersive exploration of one of the world’s most geopolitically significant regions. Spanning the languages, histories, politics, and cultures of Russia, the former Soviet republics, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia, the program equips students with deep regional knowledge and critical global insight. From studying the evolution of post-socialist societies to examining national identities, imperial legacies, and modern-day conflict zones, students develop a nuanced perspective of societies often misunderstood or oversimplified in global discourse.

This four-year program integrates disciplines such as history, political science, literature, religious studies, linguistics, international relations, and anthropology. Students gain proficiency in at least one regional language (such as Russian, Polish, or Ukrainian) and are encouraged to participate in study-abroad experiences to engage with the region firsthand. Emphasis is placed on developing strong analytical, linguistic, and research skills, preparing students to interpret complex political developments, cultural transformations, and socio-economic transitions across Eurasia. Whether through independent projects, archival research, or cultural immersion, students graduate with both academic depth and global perspective.
