The Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies MRes at the University of Glasgow is a one-year program that provides students with an advanced understanding of the political, cultural, and historical dynamics of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia. Students will engage with topics such as the history of the Soviet Union, post-Soviet transitions, political movements, and contemporary issues facing the region, with a focus on cross-cultural comparisons and the geopolitical challenges of the region.
This program is ideal for students interested in careers in international relations, diplomacy, or regional studies. Graduates will be well-equipped to work in governmental agencies, international organizations, or academic research, with a deep understanding of the political and cultural complexities of Eastern Europe and Eurasia.

Graduates of the Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies program will be well-prepared for careers in academia, diplomacy, international organizations, and policy-making. Career paths include roles such as Regional Analyst, Diplomatic Officer, Foreign Affairs Specialist, Cultural Attaché, and International Development Consultant. The program’s focus on regional politics, history, and sociocultural dynamics equips graduates to work in government agencies, NGOs, research institutes, media organizations, and multinational corporations. Graduates can also pursue doctoral research or teaching positions in regional studies, political science, or international relations.
