The Graduate Programme in Smart Grids (English) at Gazi University is an internationally oriented master’s programme offered by the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. It aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in modern electricity systems, integrating renewable energy, digital grid technologies, energy economics, and smart-grid communications. The curriculum combines theoretical foundations with applied research, preparing graduates to contribute to the future of global energy networks.
Located in Ankara, the programme draws on Gazi University’s research infrastructure and experienced faculty in energy systems and smart-grid technologies. Students engage with courses and electives such as energy markets, cyber-security in grids, photovoltaic systems, and power electronics, guided toward thesis-based research and industry-oriented projects. The programme is structured across four semesters.
Semester 1 – Foundations of Smart Grid Systems
Semester 2 – Core Smart Grid Technologies
Semester 3 – Advanced Topics & Thesis Preparation
Semester 4 – Master’s Thesis & Final Project
Graduates are prepared for a range of roles in the energy and power sector — including smart-grid engineer, renewable energy systems designer, energy systems analyst, grid cybersecurity specialist, power systems consultant, and R&D engineer. They are qualified to work in utilities, renewable energy firms, energy-tech companies, public sector energy agencies, and research & development centres — both in Türkiye and internationally.
Choosing Smart Grids (M.Sc.) at Gazi University means becoming part of a forward-looking programme built on interdisciplinary expertise in electrical engineering, renewable energy, digital systems, and energy economics. The curriculum keeps pace with global developments in grid digitalization, renewable integration and smart energy infrastructures.
The programme’s strength lies in offering both academic rigour and applied, industry-relevant training — from fundamental grid theory to cutting-edge smart-grid technologies and research projects. This combination equips graduates to lead in a rapidly transforming global energy landscape.
