Bahçeşehir Cyprus University was established in 2016 by the Bahçeşehir Uğur Education Foundation, and welcomed its first students in the 2017/2018 academic year. The university is officially recognised by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK). All of the programmes offered by the university are accredited by the National Education and the Higher Education Accreditation Commission (YÖDAK) of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Bahçeşehir Cyprus University is a member of BAU Global, which consists of several universities in attractive locations all around the world, such as Istanbul, Berlin, Washington, Batumi, Cyprus, Hanoi, Kyiv, Puebla, Brockville, and Toronto. Thus, Bahçeşehir Cyprus University students have ample opportunity to spend a summer, semester, or the rest of their education abroad in another BAU Global educational institution.
BAU Cyprus has five research centres, specialised in Management Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Psychological Counselling, Marine Law, National Security, and Blockchain. The university encourages its students and academic staff to carry out and participate in scientific research, and facilitates the process by guiding researchers. Additionally, the university has a rich library with access to plenty of scientific journals and publications.
Bahçeşehir University’s Cooperative Education Program (CO-OP) connects the academy with the industry by providing students with the opportunity to gain work experience via part-time jobs and internships within its 2.700 national and international partners. Within the CO-OP education model, 3rd and 4th-year undergraduate students can choose from a wide range of lectures given by sector professionals, in collaboration with academicians.
