Architecture - Urban Regeneration
Urban regeneration is a narrower brief than architecture in general: the subject is the city that already exists, not the empty site. That shapes the content of this two-year Sapienza degree. Redevelopment strategy and historic preservation appear next to studio work from the first semester onward, and environmental sustainability is treated as a condition imposed by existing fabric rather than as a property of new buildings.
The consequence is a broader set of destinations than a design-only qualification produces. Besides architectural firms, the programme names real estate developers and municipal planning agencies as employers, with graduates working as urban designers, planners and regeneration consultants. The third semester mirrors that division, setting community engagement alongside work on smart cities and sustainability before the closing thesis term.
