English Language Teaching (METU-SUNY International Joint Program)

About

The English Language Teaching (METU-SUNY) joint undergraduate program is designed to train proficient language educators with a solid foundation in English language, linguistics, pedagogy, and teaching methodology — combining the strengths of both METU’s academic environment and SUNY’s international perspective. Students learn advanced English language skills, language acquisition theory, applied linguistics, teaching methods, curriculum design, and practice-based teaching techniques. The program aims to equip graduates to teach English effectively at secondary or higher-education levels, develop language curricula, and adapt teaching to diverse cultural and linguistic contexts.

Located in Ankara but framed within an international joint structure, this program offers English-medium instruction and global standards for language education. Through a blend of linguistic studies, pedagogical theory, and practical teaching experiences, students build competencies in language teaching, curriculum development, and intercultural communication — preparing them for careers in language instruction, international education, or further studies in applied linguistics and education.
