The Metallurgical and Materials Engineering undergraduate program at METU trains engineers to understand, design and produce materials — from metals and alloys to ceramics, polymers and composites — and to control their properties for diverse industrial applications. The curriculum covers fundamentals in physics, chemistry and solid mechanics, then advances into material structure-property relationships, processing techniques, materials selection, testing and development. Students learn how raw materials become engineered products, how to influence material behavior through processing, and how to meet industry needs for performance, safety and sustainability.
Located in Ankara within METU’s strong engineering faculty, the program combines rigorous scientific education with practical laboratory and design experience. Graduates emerge ready to work in sectors requiring advanced materials solutions — from manufacturing and automotive to aerospace, energy, electronics, and high-performance materials — or to engage in research, development and innovation in materials science and engineering.
Semester 1 – Foundations of Science & Engineering Basics
Semester 2 – Basic Sciences & Material Fundamentals
Semester 3 – Materials Structure & Behavior
Semester 4 – Materials Processing & Characterization
Semester 5 – Specialized Materials & Industrial Applications
