Mining Engineering

About

The Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering at METU is an undergraduate program aimed at training engineers who can responsibly explore, extract and manage mineral and energy resources while considering environmental, safety and sustainability standards. The curriculum combines geosciences, geology, physics, mathematics and engineering fundamentals with specialized courses in mining methods, rock mechanics, mine surveying, mineral processing, mine design, environmental & safety engineering and resource management. Through laboratory work, field training and design projects, students gain practical skills and theoretical knowledge to handle all stages of mining operations — from exploration to extraction and processing — in a safe and efficient manner.

Located in Ankara within METU’s strong engineering faculty, the program offers both academic rigor and applied training. Students benefit from modern lab and computational facilities, fieldwork opportunities, and a multidisciplinary approach — preparing them to meet the demands of mining industry, resource management, environmental protection and sustainable resource development both in Turkey and internationally.
