Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a private, non-profit business school based in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Its roots reach back to 1957, when the Bankakademie (Banking Academy) was founded to provide professional education for the banking sector. In 1990 the Hochschule für Bankwirtschaft (HfB) was established as an associated higher-education institution, and the two bodies formally merged on 17 January 2007 to create the school in its present form. The institution earned the right to award doctoral degrees in 2004, a status made permanent in 2016.
The school concentrates on finance, banking, management, accounting, economics, and related fields, offering bachelor's, master's, MBA, and doctoral programmes alongside executive and professional education. International exposure is a core feature, with study periods at partner universities and placements abroad built into many degrees. Its main campus, opened in 2017 on Adickesallee in Frankfurt's Nordend district, was designed by the architecture firm Henning Larsen and achieved DGNB Platinum sustainability certification. The school also operates a Hamburg campus, a Munich presence, and an executive-education centre in Dubai.
Frankfurt School holds all three major international business-school accreditations — AACSB (since 2014), EQUIS (since 2014), and AMBA (since 2018) — placing it among the small group of German "Triple Crown" institutions. Research is a defining priority: around 100 faculty members publish in international peer-reviewed journals, and their work is organised across roughly a dozen dedicated research centres. The school maintains close ties to central banks, development banks, and international organisations, including the FS-UNEP Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Finance run with the United Nations Environment Programme. Its location in Frankfurt, a leading European financial hub, reinforces its specialised focus on finance-oriented education and applied research.
Acceptance rate is an EduRank estimate — modelled from comparable institutions for universities that do not publish an official figure (2026). Verify with the university before applying.
