History & Foundation
Ondokuz Mayıs University was established on April 1 1975 pursuant to Law No. 1873 and began its educational activities shortly thereafter. Initially it incorporated Faculties such as Medicine and Natural Sciences & Engineering to build a foundation for broader academic growth.
Over the years, the university expanded its structure with the addition of faculties, institutes, vocational schools and research centres. Today, it stands as an important academic and research institution in Turkey, recognised for its contributions to science, technology, health and education.
