The Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (English track) at İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi is a program that trains students to use chemistry, mathematics, physics and engineering together to solve industrial, technological and environmental problems. In this program, students learn core topics such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering, process design, separation processes, materials science and process control. They also develop skills in problem-solving, modelling, quantitative analysis, safety and environmental awareness. The curriculum balances theory with laboratory work and project-based courses. This gives students a strong foundation to design and operate chemical processes and production systems.
At ITU, Chemical Engineering is internationally accredited and part of a long academic tradition — students benefit from experienced faculty, modern labs and a broad curriculum covering many engineering fields. The English-taught courses (some portion in English) help prepare for global engineering careers or international collaborations. Graduates are ready to work in many sectors including chemical industry, energy, environment, materials, production and R&D. If you enjoy chemistry, mathematics, engineering and want to create or improve processes that produce useful materials and energy — this program gives you a solid and versatile foundation.
Semester 1 – Foundations: Mathematics, Physics & Intro to Chemical Engineering
Semester 2 – Core Sciences & Basic Engineering
Semester 3 – Core Chemical Engineering Principles
Semester 4 – Process Design & Reaction Engineering
Semester 5 – Advanced Processes & Materials Engineering
Semester 6 – Systems Integration & Environmental / Energy Focus
Semester 7 – Project Work & Industrial Applications
Semester 8 – Graduation Project & Professional Preparation
Graduates can work as process engineer, chemical production engineer, materials or polymers engineer, energy and environmental engineer, quality control & safety engineer, research & development engineer, process design consultant, plant manager, or project engineer. They may join chemical, petrochemical, energy, materials, food, pharmaceutical, environmental technology, manufacturing or R&D firms. The broad training — in chemicals, processes, materials and systems — also prepares graduates for further education or research.
Choosing Chemical Engineering at ITU gives you the opportunity to combine chemistry, mathematics and engineering to solve real-world industrial and environmental problems. You learn not only scientific theory but also practical process design, materials and engineering skills. The program’s partial English instruction and international accreditation help prepare you for global careers or postgraduate studies. The lab work, projects and broad curriculum build strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills that many industries need.
Because chemical processes are central to many sectors — energy, materials, environment, production — this program offers versatile and stable career paths. You can work in industry, research, environmental technology, production, materials, energy or materials science. If you like chemistry, enjoy mathematics and want a career that combines science with real engineering challenges — this program offers a strong, meaningful and future-oriented foundation.
