History & Foundation

Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University was founded by the Acıbadem Health and Education Foundation in 2007, following the vision of businessman Mehmet Ali Aydınlar, who began preparations in 2002. The university admitted its first students in the 2009–2010 academic year and has since focused on becoming a leading institution in health sciences and medical education in Turkey.

Supported by the foundation, the university provides scholarships for students and funding for the scientific research of its academic staff, ensuring continuous advancement in healthcare and education. With its strong integration into the Acıbadem Healthcare Group, students benefit from direct access to hospitals, research centres, and advanced simulation facilities, making ACU a trusted name in medical and health education.

Education & Research

All students admitted to Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University are required to take an English language exam (ACUPEP PPT). Those who do not pass must enrol in a preparatory year, while successful candidates directly begin as freshmen.

Thanks to the university’s numerous application and research centres, students gain valuable practical experience alongside their theoretical education. Through the European Union Erasmus & Exchange Program, they also have the opportunity to study or complete internships at prestigious European universities. Beyond academics, Acıbadem University provides access to 30+ student clubs and a modern sports centre featuring a swimming pool and fitness studios.

For healthcare students, the Centre of Clinical Simulation and Education functions as a virtual hospital, offering a wide range of practical training opportunities. It is equipped with an ambulance simulator, operating room, intensive care unit, virtual laboratory, and patient room, enabling students to practice handling crisis scenarios and prepare effectively for internships.

Acıbadem University is also a research-oriented institution, with facilities equipped with cutting-edge technology, especially in life sciences and biotechnology. The university’s Clinical Simulation and Advanced Endoscopic–Robotic Surgery Training Center (CASE) is one of the world’s most comprehensive medical simulation centres and has been recognised with the prestigious “Centre of Excellence” award by the CAE Academy — an award granted to only one other medical simulation centre globally.

In addition, the university hosts 16 specialised research laboratories in health sciences, encouraging both students and academics to conduct innovative research with ample scholarship opportunities. Strong collaborations with Acıbadem Atakent Hospital and Acıbadem Maslak Hospital further enhance the educational and research ecosystem, providing students with real-world clinical exposure.
