Altınbaş University is a young, medium-sized non-profit university in Istanbul, Turkey. The university offers 26 undergraduate programmes and 60 graduate programmes in 10 faculties. The language of instruction is predominantly English. All of the university’s three campuses are located on the European side of the Bosphorus.

Altınbaş University stands out with its high number of international students. 40% of all the students are from abroad, and there are approximately 6,000 international students from over 90 countries.

HISTORY & FOUNDATION

Founded in 2008 by the Mehmet Altınbaş Education and Culture Foundation, the university was first named Istanbul Kemerburgaz University. It welcomed its first students in the 2011/2012 academic year and changed its name to Altınbaş University in 2017.

Since its establishment, Altınbaş University has advanced towards its goal of becoming a leading international research university. It has expanded from its initial five faculties to ten faculties, one graduate institute, and three vocational schools, with the latest addition being the Faculty of Communications established in 2023.

Education & Research

Altınbaş University offers 26 undergraduate, 60 graduate, 11 associate degree, and 13 doctoral programmes in 10 faculties: Dentistry, Pharmacy, Fine Arts and Design, Law, Economics and Social Sciences, Business, Engineering and Architecture, Applied Sciences, and Medicine.

The university strives to be a solution- and student-oriented institution, prioritising innovation, social responsibility, and academic freedom in both research and education. 95% of its 10,000+ students benefit from various forms of financial aid.

Its three campuses, divided by specialisation, include student dormitories, a dining hall, a psychological support centre, and more than 50 student clubs.

At Altınbaş University, over 250 advanced research projects have been conducted in diverse fields of science, engineering, architecture, health sciences, and social sciences. The university allocates a budget of over 33 million TL for research and development projects and operates 14 R&D centres.

Through the Deanship of Research, both academicians and students receive extensive support in finding project partners, publication incentives, participation in scientific conferences, project writing, and intellectual property registration.
