Degree structures in the United Kingdom are shorter than in much of Europe: many taught master's courses run for a single year of full-time study, while Scottish undergraduate degrees are longer than their counterparts in England and Wales. The sector also splits between long-established research universities and the post-1992 institutions that grew out of the polytechnics, which tend towards applied, industry-facing teaching. Everything is taught in English, so there is no separate language track to look for. Our catalogue covers England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — 50 universities and 5,933 programmes between them.
The 32 universities below carry an EduRank research ranking and appear in world-rank order. Research standing is only part of the picture, so weigh it against each institution's acceptance rate and the programmes it actually runs.
