Dutch higher education is formally split in two: research universities, which are academically oriented, and universities of applied sciences, whose degrees are built around professional practice and usually include a placement. English-taught degrees have been established here far longer than in most of continental Europe, so the choice is wide at both bachelor's and master's level. Admission to some programmes is capped and decided by a selection procedure rather than by entry requirements alone.
Our catalogue holds 31 Dutch universities and 1,609 programmes between them. The 27 that carry an EduRank research ranking are ordered below by world rank; EduRank ranks more Dutch institutions than appear here. Because that measure reflects research output rather than teaching style, weigh it against each entry's acceptance rate, key facts and programme list when shortlisting.
