Hasan Kalyoncu University (HKU) was founded in 2008 by the Gaziantep Hasan Kalyoncu Foundation, becoming the first foundation university in Southeastern Anatolia. The university welcomed its first students in the 2010–2011 academic year with the vision of combining modern education with regional development.
