History & Foundation

Çukurova University was officially established in 1973 by merging earlier faculties such as Agriculture (founded in 1969) and Medicine (founded in 1972) to create a multi-disciplinary university serving the Adana region and beyond. It was founded with the vision of contributing to Turkey’s educational, scientific and regional development, and has grown continuously to expand its academic and research infrastructure.

Over the decades, the university expanded through the addition of new faculties, institutes and vocational schools, extended its research and application centres, and developed partnerships with national and international institutions. Today, Çukurova University is recognised as a major institution in Turkey’s higher education landscape with broad academic and scientific impact.
